South Fulton Celebrates Earth Day with Kendall Rae's Parade and Learning Fair
Youth-led environmental initiative thrives in its second year
SOUTH FULTON, GA – (April 10, 2024) - The City of South Fulton is proud to announce the return of Kendall Rae's Earth Day Parade and Learning Fair for the second consecutive year. Hosted by Kendall Rae Johnson, Georgia's youngest certified farmer, the event will take place on April 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., kicking off at the Tri-County shopping center at 7494 Old National Highway, South Fulton, GA 30349.
This year's theme, "Plastic vs. Everyone," underscores the pressing issue of plastic pollution and its detrimental impact on our planet. The event aims to raise awareness and inspire action toward sustainable solutions on Earth Day and beyond.
Festivities will commence with a vibrant parade led by Grand Marshals Kendall Rae Johnson and the City of South Fulton’s Mayor khalid, showcasing creative displays and floats from local environmental advocates and community partners.
Following the parade, participants will meet at the LA Fitness Plaza at 6385 Old National Highway, South Fulton, GA 30349, for the Learning Fair. Attendees of all ages will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in interactive exhibits, workshops, and presentations led by environmental experts, scientists, and community leaders.
Community partners for this year's event include esteemed organizations such as Zoo Atlanta, Staples, Lowes, Fulton County, Black Voters Matter, and the City of South Fulton Economic Development Department. Their collaboration underscores the collective effort to address environmental challenges and foster a greener future for generations to come.
