Hello Roots & Shoots changemakers, and welcome to our weekly Roots & Shoots e-blasts! Each week, we’ll be highlighting one inspiring story from our Roots & Shoots network, and giving you one way to take action. 💫
🪴🌱 Gardens attract native pollinators, improve mental health, provide fresh food, and build community ... so it's no wonder we see so many #RootsAndShoots groups with amazing gardening projects!
While gardens have tons of benefits, it can seem challenging to set one up in a city where there's less open space. That's why Roots & Shoots member Kendall started her project, 🔗 Farm to Kitchen with Kendall, to promote urban gardening in Atlanta through a free online resource (photos of the filming process here). 🌇🪴
Kendall is uniquely qualified for this work — not only is she a Roots & Shoots member, but at only nine years old, she is also the youngest certified farmer in the state of Georgia! With the help of a Roots & Shoots grant from our Atlanta Basecamp, Kendall has been teaching other kids her age about the process of growing and using their own food. Her goal is to help her community make better choices for a healthier lifestyle, through urban farming, cooking, and friendships. 🫶🌱
