About

The Department of City Planning is excited to partner with Kendall Rae's Green Heart, a non-profit organization founded by 10-year-old Kendall Rae Johnson, the youngest certified farmer in the United States. Kendall Rae's Green Heart empowers youth through STEAM-based agricultural education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable farming practices, with a mission to cultivate climate-smart leaders and healthier ecosystems.

Through this partnership, we are proud to present Cultivate and Educate Urban Farm Tours and Workshops.

These tours and workshops aim to:

  • Educate participants on farm history, management, and technology.

  • Explore connections between produce and by-products (e.g., tomatoes to ketchup).

  • Experience hands-on activities like soil science, hydroponics, and sustainable farming techniques.

Together, we are committed to creating opportunities to thrive, grow, and lead in shaping a greener, more resilient future for our communities and their food systems
